Death of poetry in English India
I came across an interesting article in Times of India today about the Death of poetry. It was talking about how the popularity of fasion and movies have caused the importance of poetry the almost competely dissapear.
It seems as though the modern education system is set so that creativity is not an option, you must go by the textbook. And now finally people are becoming aware that a child is more than a mold. A child is unique and has their own strengths therefore contributing the mosaic we call the world.
Great Poets like Rabindranath Tagore, and Sarogini Naydu’s workes fade into the distance. If you think about it poets like these brought pride to this country, the were reviving a rich culture that seems to time and time again stand the test of becomming dead.
Even all our ancient sanskrit shloks and stotras are basically poetry. Its sad to think that the greatness of poets like Kalidas are not put the the pedistule of or even higher than poets Tennyson and Wordsworth
I Learned two years worth of poetry, but never realized the importance until i came into the real world. Poetry is an outlet, not just any outlet, but one that a person can truely show their creativity. Not only must poetry be written, but it should be read and appreciated as well.
My props to all you guys who have even experimented with poetry in some way shape of form. If not us then who?

Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

When one door closes another one opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us
